Job Description

WhyMaker is seeking a dedicated, creative, detail-oriented Instructional Designer to join our Education team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing lessons, activities, and whole curriculums for our clients. The successful candidate will be excited about creating the best possible content that educates students with cutting-edge and relevant learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Design and Development

  • Ideate & create innovative, impactful activities & lessons for students
  • Develop clear, concise & helpful instructional materials for teachers
  • Integrate constructivist, project-based learning pedagogies into design
  • Build scope & sequence of long term units & curriculum as needed
  • Articulate learning objectives from clients needs and wants
  • Identify physical, hands-on materials as needed for projects

Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts

  • Work closely with SMEs to gather and apply specialized knowledge
  • Translate complex topics into clear, engaging, and accessible educational content
  • Research subjects and experts as needed, use information effectively

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Understand client needs and expectations, ensuring deliverables meet project goals
  • Provide regular edits and updates to incorporate client feedback into designs

Writing and Quality Assurance

  • Draft and edit instructional content with attention to clarity, tone, and educational effectiveness
  • Ensure content is accurate, consistent and in alignment with project specifications

Project Management

  • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate resources and workflows

SKILLS

Core Competencies

  • Experience designing instructional content for K-12 education
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities, with attention to detail and clarity
  • High-quality research skills
  • Skilled in creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for diverse learners
  • Familiarity with STEM, CTE, or career education content
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines
  • Professional communication skills with a focus on customer service and client satisfaction
  • Able to take feedback constructively and apply it to work

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development for K-12 students
  • Experience with STEM, CTE and career education curriculum writing or teaching
